In looking over my PIX logs I have noticed that I am geeting an alarming amount of port scans and access attempts to various ports.

It seems some of the Scans are coming from the same source IP/range. I would like to deny access to these IP's
Would this be a job for an access list.
Would the access prevent them from scanning me.

Nothing is going to stop the attempts to scan, but the access list is the way to go to stop them from getting anywhere. I just had the same problem and found that they were using one of the servers as an FTP site where they uploaded software and gave the address out to everyone so they could retrive it. Watch ports 20 and 21 closely.
