Here is the way we have this home network set up. win 2k server 1 nic ip 192.168.1.9 that goes into the linksys cable router, another nic 192.168.0.1 that goes into the hub and 5 workstations attached to the hub. DHCP is set up and working because the workstations each receive an ip when they connect to the domain. From a workstation I am able to ping the 192.168.0.1 nic but not the nic attached to the linksys or the linksys itself. So I think there must be some type of routing problem. The 2 nic cards are not communicating with each other.

Any ideas as to what we need to do next? (I am very new to server and networking it)

Thanks.

You don't need 2 nics if you have the linksys router. That configuration defeats the purpose of using the linksys router. Plug the cablem modem directly to the linksys router and from the linksys to a hub where you will connect all of the pc's.

I understand that but he doesn't want to use the linksys as a router. Eventually that will be taken out of the equation and either Proxy 2.0 or ISA Server will be used. But either way that doesn't solve the problem of my 2 nics not communicating to each other.

Hello, I thing you have to give NIC #2 a differant IP such as 192.168.2.1, because you can not give an IP to a NIC Card that has 0 value. Let me know if this will work for you. Thanks,

as i see the problem here that you have a two logical networks...
1) your NIC card with Linksys
2) the other NIC card with Hub and 5 workstations
so to have connectivity between these two networks you have to set the PC (WIN2k Server as a router through Routing and Remote access Snap-in)...
i mean that each network has to have a default gateway to access the other network, for example the 5 workstations default gateway will be 192.168.0.1 (your NIC card) which connects them to the other network.

i wish that would help...
