Hi there, is it possible to use internet sharing from a Win98-SE machine (with the modem) through to a Win2k-Pro machine over a TC-PIP network. Got it going Win98-SE to Win98-SE no worries, just wondering if was possible to do the same to win2k professional.
Thanks in Advance.

I am not absolutly sure, but have you considered trying to make Win2k a Domain, and i never had Win98SE, so i never had the quick benefits of ICS, i used a proxy server instead
(hey thats an idea, try finding proxy+ from tucows, see if that works in the meantime til you find somethign better)
Karl
kb244@bellsouth.net
<a href=
Send me some more info. Are you going through an ISP. Try in the win 2000 machine going into IE5 settings in the connection page go into the lan settings click use automatic config script and type address of the 98 machine offering the sharing. Then on the Win 2000 machine make sure in the tcp/ip settings that the dns is set to your isp's settings. Let me know.

Why not just yank the modem out of the 98 box and drop it in the Win2k box? It seems to make better sense and that works great for my network. Win2k box is ICS and 2-Win98SE and 1-Win95B box on the network.

Configure TCP/IP in win 2k to 'obtain address automatically'
make sure 98se is configured with ICS. It does work, trust me.
