I am currently experiencing a big problem online.
I am currently connected at 5.6mb broadband, and whatever brower, whether it is Firefox or IE7 there is a severe delay on all pages, this is new and never had this problem before.
I have scanned for viruses, spyware and malware, but it all comes back clean? It feels like my connection is being leeched somehow, it's a cable connection not wireless.
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening, it has only in last week or so, downloads aren't even happening as fast as they used to?
Any remedies or checks i can do?

Test your bandwidth using this site

Have you checked that their is no proxy enabled and (if it similar to my cable modem) that you are set to auto IP & DNS.

Try powering off your cable modem for at least 1 minute then plug it back in again.

I use a SA webstar modem and can browse to 192.168.100.1 to view the modem status and power levels (my level is -1.3dBmV and get downloads of 1MB/s on a 10MB connection)

Can you connect another PC/laptop to the modem to see if that has the same problems browsing?

When I was born I was so suprised I didn't talk for 18 months

Upload - 77kps
Download - 123kps

That my speedtest results, no other pc to try online,
the wierd thing is a week ago didnt have this problem, unless its something to do with my ISP, BT?
But results seem to be ok download works out just to be over 7mb but internet connetion is indicating 5.6mps

BT don't supply cable broadband only ADSL.

If your download is showing as 123 kb/s that is nowhere near the 5.6MB connection being displayed.

123 kb/s is approx 1.1 MB.

ADSL suffers very badly from contension, i.e if lots of people are using it your available bandwidth drops considerably. It may be that your connection into the BT router is 5.6 MB but their is little bandwidth available beyond that in the BT 'cloud'.

With a 10MB connection these are the results I get
Try using the BT test page (can only be used by BT subscribers though)
