I am trying to get internet printing to work. i have a server behind a router on a private subnet. i can access my web server and when i connect to my server with it gives me my password prompt. i use my admin account and it waits a little and then gives me this error

An error occurred processing your request.

Error Code: 80070035
Note: Get ADSI Printers

I have added two printers on the server. 2 local printers, one is shared. If i connect internally i can access the printer that is shared. but not over the internet? has anyone seen this problem? how can i fix this??

Thanks, PAUL

A few wild guesses

Is IIS running ok?

I once had a problem because of browser and proxy settings.

Does it make a difference if you connect to //server/printers rather than domain?

yes iis is running ok. i can connect fine by using \\server\printers internally. the problem is when i try outside of the network. OWA is working fine and i can access the under contruction page.

Thanks, PAUL

Did you ever find an answer to this question? I am having the same problems.

IIS is running and 'under construction' site available from the web but still get:

An error occurred processing your request.

Error Code: 80070035
Note: Get ADSI Printers

Tried Group Policies but no change.

Would be very grateful if you could send me the answer if you found one.

Thanks

Its true there is a Microsoft article about using NAT and enabling File and Printer sharing. The problem is I am not using NAT and file and printer sharing is enabled.

Thanks for your answer.

So your IIS server, or the print server, has a public address and not a private address? Have you opened all ports to see if it's a port issue?

Hi,

I am having the same exact problem. I have disabled firewalls, opened admin access, not running NAT, opened all ports from the WAN to the print server and still getting the same error.

Tried the MS article and printer / file sharing is on and NAT is off and it works on the LAN just not on the WAN.

HELP! AHHHHRHRR!

OK I have been racking my brain on this one and I have finally figured it out.

It seems that many people were having the same problem with IPP that I was...
"80070035 Get ADSI Printers"

Here is how I fixed the problem. I have included some steps below.
1. Make sure IIS is running properly.
2. Make sure you have a virtual directory in the proper site pointed to c:\winnt\web\printers
3. Any routers or firewalls are set to allow / are routed to the print server for port 80.

Now for the fix....
Open c:\winnt\web\printers\ipp_0001.asp & ipp_0004.asp and replace 127.0.0.1 with the domain name of the website. Example: or 66.66.111.222

This should fix the problem. Remember if you want to access it from a WAN with a domain, make sure it is registered with a DNS server.

Hope that helps!
