I been having a problem with Internet Exporer 5.5, and Outlook Express, some times when I close IE or OE, I get an error,Internet Explorer caused a invalid page fault in Kernell32.dll, and most of the time i can not shut down, i have to turn off the power button. So if any one has any suggestions, it will help.

Load dr. watson. see what other programs may cause problems and then delete them from the startup

If you are running Mcafee virus scan v5.x, this is most likely your problem. There is a problem with IE5.x and MVS that Microsoft is aware of but does not have any resolution at this time. Searching the MS-KB will only suggest going to McAfee's site for an answer only to find out that McAfee does not have an answer either(at least the last I checked).

I know you are not going to like this.... but I fixed it by disabling the internet scanning portion of MVS. Kinda of silly considering that's where you need to be protected... when surfing the net.

Anyway, it corrected my problem.
