Hi

When I load Internet Explorer then unload it, it stays in memory and further instances load in memory but don't run!

I am having a problem with my own pc. If it was a work pc I would just reinstall but my wife will kill me if I do.

thanks

Allan

Hi,
Explain please what you mean that it 'stays in memory'-

If you select File..Close ( or click on X in the corner) dos it not close? - Do you mean that it is still listed in the Task Manager Process list ( iexplore.exe)?

Are you confusing the processes Explorer.exe and Iexplore.exe?

Are you using Fast User Switching with multiple users running?

Yes - multiple times. After opening and closing ie the process is still there

No

No

I have re-installed xp over the previous installation (repaired previous installation) and this appears to have fixed the problem - I still don't know what it was in the first place.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Allan
