Hi,
My problem is that whenever I open Windows Explorer, Explore, My Computer, Control Panel, My Network etc,
Internet Explorer starts dialing.

Is there anyway to stop this.

I could not find anything from microsoft on this issue (go figure) so, I am wondering if you have run a virus scan latley?

If you have and the machine is clean, let us know what OS your using as well as the browser version.

To stop IE or anything else from automaticly dialing the internet, go into Internet Options and choose something besides, automaticly connnect under connection. You can try, never dial a connection.
As to what is causing it, do a ctrl+alt+del and see if anything that would normally use the internet is running.
Also, go into msconfig, start>run type msconfig in named, and see if anything is set to start that would use the internet. If there is nothing that you can see, uncheck everything except systray, loadpower profile and reboot.
See if it does it then. If not, go back and put checks back in but only a few at a time and reboot, testing each time to help narrow down what program could be causing it to dial out.

This happens to me occasionally too. Usually it is spurred by another program wanting to get online. Lets say Im just browsing through some files and I click on a save website, it may start connecting. To solve this, I downloaded Zonealarm and the next time Explorer asked to connect to the Internet, I made it its last.

Hi guys,

Finally solved it.

Ran ad_aware and it reported 5 folders, Deleted them and the problems gone.

Glad to hear you got the problem solved and thanks for letting us know your solution. Chuck
