I've been suffering from a problem with my Internet Explorer for a long time. After every few minutes of use, IE will pop up an error:
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close."

And I will need to close and restart IE.

The details of error message is as follows:
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: Ispcs.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.11
Offset: 0000cfdf

I've searched many forums for an answer but can't seem to resolve it. Has anyone encountered a similar problem and solved it?

Thanks in advance.

You have spyware. Download from another computer these 2 programs.

(do a full system scan with this in safe mode)

Once done with ewido , extract hijack this to desktop. Open it up and run it in normal mode. Choose do a system scan and save a logfile and post the logfile on here. Unless your sure of what your doing dont attempt to do anything as most items are legit.

Thanks for your tip. I downloaded ewido and ran a scan. It picked up quite a number of infected objects, mainly cookies. My browser worked well for a few hours then started crashing with the same message again. Does that mean that I got infected with spyware again in just those few hours? I don't think constantly running a ewido scan is the long-term solution. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Nah its just not getting rid of all of it. Thats why I asked you to post the hijackthis so we can determine exactly what you have and go about removing it. So please download it as I have stated above and post a logfile.

electronicsfreak,

I've run hijackthis and here's my logfile. Pls let me know which items are spyware

The rest of the logfile looks clean to me.

Try running the following as well:

windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

This will reset your Internet Explorer to the correct settings.

You may also try running another spyware program such as Webroot Spysweeper.

Download it here:

Webroot Spysweeper 14 day Trial

Update the defs and do a sweep.

Hope that helps,

Erik

I had the same problem and used Webroot spyware remover and it took care of it when no other program would.
Since then I have grown to love this program and all its features. I suggest everyone give this one a go.
