I have come accross an unusual problem. I have a client that logs on to a specific web site that now comes to a blank page while the hour glass is there forever. The page acts as if it is continually loading. Here are the things I have already attempted to do. The page is a 128-bit encrypted site, and it does get past the login information.

Checked to see if there is a software firewall, which there is not.

Checked to see if it is working on other PC's on the network, which it does, even on other Win XP Pro systems with the same service pack. This rules out the possibility of the router blocking any special port this site may be using.

Cleared all cookies, temperary internet files, and the SLL State.

Installed Firefox, the site does load in Firefox, as well as AOL, althoug he would still like this resolved in IE.

Lowered all the internet security settings to the minimal.

Checked to see when the last Windows Updates were installed. The last updates were on last Friday, we was able to log onto the site on this Mon and early Tues.

Ran ad-aware, system had very little amount of spyware, and still had the same problem after removing what was there.

Upgraded Internet Explorer. I downloaded Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 and still have the same results.

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

Jinxed computer?

Try installing the IETab extension in Firefox... this allows you to view web pages/sites from within Firefox -- but as if you were in IE.

If the site causes Firefox to hang (whilst you have IETab viewing the site as IE)... then it's possibly something "lower down the food chain" than the browser. If you can view the site fine from within Firefox with IETab... then the problem is likely to be specific to IE.

Can you create a new user on the same computer, and see if IE hangs on that user as well? Just a thought.

Maybe they have a "toolbar" installed. One of those "oh so useful" toolbars that you just can't do without. It's weird that this continued into IE7beta as well though.

Those are some good ideas, thank you I will try them. It did have the google and yahoo toolbars, but I turned them off (although I should have uninstalled them). I failed to mention that in my previous message.

I created the new profile and the same problem occured. I was not on-site so I have not tried the IETab just yet.
