Hi All,

I recently visited an mp3 site that loaded a bunch of software onto my home desktop without asking me if I wanted to install it. I then had to remove all of this software manually. However, after I did this Internet Explorer stopped showing adds and graphics. For instance, the graphic at the top of the Yahoo home page does not appear. I tried reinstalling Internet Explorer but kept getting a Windows Logo incompatibility meeeage when doing so. The installation would then stop. The Windows Help file says this message is envoked when Windows may not be compatible with the software that is being installed. But I am running Windows XP! Can anyone offer any gems of advice?

Thanks!

sfc /scannow didn't return any errors. I tried installing Mosaic and Netscape. This let me see that my web browser is now connecting to the graphics/ad servers for many websites e.g. Yahoo!. I find this quite odd as this happens for some websites but not others. Could it be an issue with my ISP instead?

Maybe, but I doubt it.
It might be worth having a look at what got installed on your machine.
Download Hijack This! and scan your machine. Cut and paste your log in it's entirety back here.
