I use javascript in my page for menu effects. However when I load the webpage in my Internet explorer, the script is blocked and a message "To help protect your security, Internet explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer.Click Here for options...". When I load the same page in Firefox everything seems to be fine and the menu effect works. How do I get around the problem with IE? I use Internet explorer 6.0, Windows XP SP2.

Thanks in advance.

2 suggestions:

1. Check the browser settings in internet explorer to see if they are set too high.

Check here: Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab and see what your settings are blocking.

2. My crystal ball is a bit cloudy at the moment and I'm having a hard time seeing your source code. Perhaps you could post it here for all of us so we at least have something to look at and give you suggestions?

If you aren't running a web server on your computer, then I don't believe you can prevent this error message from happening with pages viewed locally. If you are running a web server, then you can add 127.0.0.1, or whatever name you call the computer web server root, to the trusted sites list.
