After installing Internet Explorer 5, I started getting sporadic system lockups. The system locks up so badly that all keyboard keys and the mouse are inoperative. Therefore the system has to be powered down to clear the lockup. No particular event triggers the lockup and the system will lock up even when IE5 isn't running. UN installing IE5 does not help, I suspect that the IE5 installation replaces a system file which is not removed during the UN install process. Any ideas on how I can fix this problem, without completely re installing Windows ?
TIA
John

only suggstion look into registry diagnostic utilities from Norton or some other type or registry repairs. Good luck these are really hard to find errors.

moses
tmoses@iname.com
<a href= my site
"We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the
I just ran into this myself. I found that I had a conflicting .dll residing in Symantec Quarterdeck Cleansweep. The offender was the apitrap.dll which conflicts with IE5. If you go to the Symantec site, you will find an updated apitrap.dll. I also did the kernel32.dll update for Windows.
