Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2

On the Microsoft Web site I can only download a EXE file to actually force you to download the full version of Internet Explorer.

I have recently restricted download rights to only a few of selected IT staff.

However I need to obtain a full version of Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2, so that our support staff do not need to download the files, but install from a server\share.

I have contacted Microsoft and they have only offered me a copy of Internet Explorer 6, but my Manager does not want to roll this out.

Please let me know your views,

Search
Software Updates
NO KEYWORD....
Windows 98 (Internet Explorer 5, 5.01 SP1)
[I filled in all (4) update types]..just to be sure
Click NEXT
Bottom of sheet will be IE5.5 SP2 upgrade
Check it and select DOWNLOAD NOW

If a popup appears (it was on my taskbar) asking you if you wish to install now answer NO

Go to the MS Download site at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp?

and make the appropriate selections under "Search for a Download:":
- choose "Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 and Internet Tools" from the Product Name dropdown list;
- choose "Windows 98" from the "Operating System" dropdown list;
- choose "Most Recent (within 12 months)" from the "Show results for" dropdown list;
- choose the "Date" bullet in the "Sort by" group;
- and, finally, click "Find It".

you should see a list of 5 (as of the time of this posting) items, you certainly want to download the last/bottom item (Internet Explorer Service Pack 2) and probably the first/top item which is the March 26, 2002 security update.

If you're running Win2k:

This is an active setup and will only download components you select for your OS. (this is for win2k only!)

To download the whole code for all Windows versions you need to use a special command.

First create a folder c:\ie6,

then download the above file to that folder

Start the run dialog and type this command WITH quotes!!

"C:\ie6\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"
