Internet Explorer 4 or 5.5 1

While browsing the web my IE stopped working and my pc froze. I rebooted and now IE and my mouse do not work.
IE no longer exists in the add/remove programs list and there are a few entries in the registry for IE 4 but not 5.5(I ran upgrade to 5.5 last summer 2000). Microsoft support says to uninstall IE 5 before reinstalling WIN98 SE but I can't do that since it no longer exists. I tried their registry edit idea but still no luck. I don't know why the mouse stopped working but it only works in safe mode now. I checked accessability options and mouse in control panel everything looks ok. I ran virus scan, scandisk, defragged etc...

go to windows dir. and look for IE 5.5 setup/install icon and reinstall it from there
