Hi all,

This is an unusual request but a client asked me today if it was possible to download the whole Internet so that he could surf without a connection.

My thinking was to download the whole thing, zip and burn it onto a few CD's and then he could just insert CD1 for half and CD2 for the other half.

Now the problem, does anyone know a way to automatically download this info? I have plenty of hard drive space to store it all, I just need some kind of program that will do this for me, otherwise I am going to have to call each and every site, one by one which may take a few days.

Any suggestions appreciated, [smile] Wullie

Those aren't urban legends, they just really happen so often that people only think they are...my girlfriends father usd to own a computer hardware company, he got everything from the power outage to the coffee cup (happened at local Univ. saw the maint. report afterwards...) to the crayon warranty (no the warranty doesn't cover your kid shoving a crayon in it) to the bubbling screen (what happens when you move the mouse?)

2 FUNNY [lol] [laughtears].

I can understand people not knowing how technology works. But the sheer loss of common sense makes me wonder how some of these people survive their daily lives.

Got to love them though how boring it would be if the users did not make us laugh or keep us employed by breaking things.

Right, we had an urgent call from someone overseeing some equipment the other day (can't say what, i'll just say it's not something you want to see go boom) because his dog disappeared...

It took us about 10 minutes to figure out a) how this was our problem and b) why he had a dog on site...

Apparently he had figured out that Alt-Tab would take him from the screen he ws supposed to be watching to the desktiop and then he could open up word and fiddle with the dog (instead if the paperclicp). Apparently the dog failed to come up and he was worried about it...

Hmmm....I can't believe I missed this thread. I saw that internet download before on W3. I wonder which one was the original. Anyway...here are some fun true stories...I can't find the best one, but these are ok:
