I enabled DHCP on the server. I then configured the external nic card with a static IP address. When I enabled Internet Connection Sharing on the internal nic card, the internal nic card was given a static IP address and IP addresses were given to the clients dynamically. My problem is that the clients still could not connect to the internet. I also configured RRAS and that didn't help. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You can't use DHCP and ICS at the same time as ICS acts as a downscales DHCP server for clients. Try diabling DHCP Vince Grice

Are you running any DNS? I had same problem when I enabled/ran my DNS service. My set up is similar. 2 nics in my server. One to the internet, one to the hub/lan. The internet/external nic is set up to recieve its IP automatically from my ISP. It is also set to share the connection with the other nic. All clients 'obtain IP addresses' automatically (DHCP). One trick you can do is run a ipconfig /all from DOS shell. There you will see the config for both cards. The external/internet card will also list the DNS servers. You could try setting your clients' DNS address to the same ones that your external/internet NIC uses. See what happens.

i agree, disable DHCP service, both can not be used at the same time if your trying to share your connections using ICS. ICS act as a basic DHCP. A+, MCP, CCNA
