My younger daughter's PC was having too much spyware!!! Adaware or Spybot could not get rid of them completely. Therefore, I reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled XP Pro for her. Everything worked out fine for a couple days then Internet connection was dying slowly. The PC has a USB wireless adapter. The symptom is that Internet connection would become slower and slower. Finally, no more connection at all. USB wireless adapter could not establish a link with the Access Point anymore.

Power cycle the PC may get the Internet connection back but eventually dying away again.

My own PC and my older daughter laptop have no problem at all. We all use wireless connection to the Access Point and then via the VPN router to cable modem to Internet.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks,

Ching-Ho Cheng

Try swapping known good components with pc with issues. Start with the wireless adapter.

Replaced the wireless adapter last night with a known good one, problem still existed.

Any idea to trackle this problem ?

go onto the run box located in the start menu type cmd and click enter then in the new window type ipconfig make sure the default gateway is the ip address of your router.
