Internet Browsers Stop Working

Friend has winxp.

First, Internet Explorer would shut down when we entered certain sites like oldnavy.com and bananarepublic.com. Tried reinstalling SP1 but nothing worked.
I installed Netscape on the computer which did work for awhile.
Now both IE and Netscape do not work. Nothing happens when you click on them.
I tried reinstalling. They worked again for a little (IE still had same problem accessing certain sites) but now they stopped again.
Any thoughts? Need help!

If you can get IE to work, run Trend Micro and Panda online AV scans:

Then run, in this order:
CWShredder
AdaWare
Spybot 1.2

It occurs to me this would be valuable. First thing, use the WinsockFix utility discussed in faq779-4625
