We have 25 PC's in our Windows NT environment and most can access the Internet thru our Router.

The problem we are experiencing is employees are using the Internet for everything from Banking, On-line Gambling, arranging vacations and going into porn sites.

I have 2 questions:

1. Is there a good Internet Filtering Software package or Appliance available?

2. Is there Monitoring Software available that would allow us to see who is doing what?

Websense and N2H2 come to mind. The Pix firewall can integrate with these services.

Your solution is likely to require either a capable firewall or proxy server. I've used squid with downloaded lists and it works very well.

The short answer is "yes" to both questions.

Try for your reporting needs. The US office has great resources for you to get Blocking and Filtering as well. Check out the site and download some of the Monitoring software.

I would recommend that you think about turning this around and, rather than try to block all the inappropriate sites that people are going to, make up a internet usage policy which clearly defines what is and isn't appropriate. Install a proxy server of some sort to collect the web traffic going out of the office, and do periodic spot checks and make people responsible for their actions. You'll never be able to block everything with site filters (or you'll end up blocking stuff that you don't mean to block), but if you make people responsible for what they do, you'll probably be much more effective.
