We're in the process of switching over from using '09' to using '00' for international dialing.
However I've programmed my SPN to be identical, but I cannot successfully send a call through.

My DCH Trace shows the following when I dial an international number:
% DCH 55 UIPE_OMSG CC_SETUP_REQ REF 0000036D CH 55 19 TOD 9:55:42
% PROGRESS: ORIGINATING END IS NOT ISDN
% CALLING #:47647 NUM PLAN: E164 TON: UNKNOWN
% CALLED #:00 NUM PLAN: E164 TON: UNKNOWN

on your 09 you were deleteing the 0, try changing the dmi to delete 2 insert 9.. that will send the same string.. i've never sent a 9 unless it was to another switch or an essex/centrex trunk group.. your old code sends just the 9

Doesn't DEL - 0 mean delete nothing?
Will check out and verify.
Thanks

DEL is the count of digits to strip after the AC1 or AC2.

INST is DTMF tones to insert after AC1 or AC2 and after the striped digits.

John knows that.

But...DRNurse...what country are you in?...it makes a world of difference :)

We're in Sunny South Africa. :) What difference will this make to the dialing?
Found that if I change my DMI CTYP to be INTL I get through to international exchange, even though my DCH trace still shows I'm only dialling out "00"
Could this be some patching issue?

The difference is how the US dials. When we connect to the public network, we dial 011 + Country Code + City Code + Telephone Number.

But is there any technical difference to it?
We're dialling 0 (Outside line) + 00 + Country Code + Number
However if I use the Route access code directly I can connect perfectly, so it's not the number I'm dialing, it's the Digital Manipulation or the AC1 which is causing the problem?
Thanks

In your SPNs you may have to expand it a litte. By this I mean for your 00 you may have to go with an SPN for 00 then another for 000 then 001 and 002 thru 009 which should cover you to national long distance at 01. I beleive your 2 main national long distance codes are 011 for Jo'burg and 022 for Pretoria, I can't remeber Capetown and Durban off the top of my head. But had a similiar problem with system I did in neighboring Swaziland.

Thanks, that did the trick!
If I just had a SPN of 00 it didn't work for some reason however as soon as I created 10 new SPNS (000 to 009) using the same RLI it worked without a problem.
