What's the trick with setting up an international node ?'

We can't get them to work. Nodes within the USA are fine.

Using NPA-NXX-xxxx and Dialing sequence of 9PN.

For international we're trying 9P011N.

We are not using Country definitions, what do they do in the node profile ? thanks

Well that would be the first place to start. You must tell it what country the end node is in so it knows what to listen for when it makes the call. Are they Octels or are you trying to use AMIS ?

Ken,

I couldn't find where on the CD docs what defining the country actually does ?

Is that it ? diff kinds of ringback tones its listening for ?

Ken,,sorry I said Analog networking, Its all Octel - Octel.

And you will not but i would set it to the country that the far end node is in. It is a big deal when calling over seas to the octel as to what it has to listen for.

thanks Ken we'll give it a shot.

Is there anything we should be careful of when setting the dialing parameters or phone number ?

We're sure we have the correct # , correct serial # and correct # of digits in mailbox.

If we cut down a 2616 phone directly on the frame, we can dial the international # as we are entering it in the node profile.

Dialing paramter we are using is 9P011N and in the phone number it is set to Country code, city code, number.

I see some nodes built in other systems with dashes in the Phone number. Are they needed ? does it do anything ?

Thanks Ken for your help.

The - dashes do not do anything and are not needed. When you dial the number from the 2616 i assume the far end does answer right ?

yes, when we cut down a phone on the octel port and dial the phone number of the far end node, as 9011-cc-city-num, the far end octel answers.

thanks Ken
