I have a wireless network. It is very basic. I have Win XP on my comp, and 98 on my son's. I have a broadband router and a wireless adapter on my son's. Everything is configured through the router. I have a workgroup set up and my XP comp recognized my 98 comp. When I ping the 98 comp, I get intermittent ping replies. Anywhere between 0 and 4 packets sent. Sometimes, just one might be sent and three timed out. Or two sent and two timed out. Now, I do have a nic card installed on my 98, but there is no cable running to it. When I use ipconfig, it recognizes the nic card. Could this be the problem? I know networking is very finicky. I should have removed it, but just forgot it was in there.

Did you figure your problem out yet?
