We were dialing out with 9, 1 + area code + 7 digits but before finishing it began to ring a few times in a row.

If nothing was changed in the ARS or trunk groups, any idea what would cause this?

It began working normally 2 minutes after but it has me worried. I have yet to run a trace.

It can be one trunk becoming busy, the call routing to the second choice in the route pattern and the specific trunk group not excepting calls the way it is programmed.

You may also find the carrier routing calls different ways. We ran into a big issue last year where the CLEC was routing calls out to different carriers depending on the time of day and toll rates. Unfortuanately we were routing everything as natl and not all the carriers were correctly configured to carry the traffic. Same number dialed 20 times might have half the calls fail.
