I got this discription from a user today. Not sure where to start.

when i'm talking to a customer, the line will go dead for a second and the screen says "no ethernet" and then it will come back on.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Bad Jack in back of phone, bad cord, bad wall jack, bad cabling, bad switch port take your pick

In our environment, about 95% of the time its the cable from the phone to the wall... We've found that the standard cables that were shipped with the phones don't seem to work that well.

Thanks,

and to add a little bit of info to 98Converter's post, those tamper-resistant patch cords make for a very tight fit at the phone due to that extra plastic.

I have seen bad cable's too.
Squeeze it again with the right tool could fix it.
But about 50% of the time it won't.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Well guys thanks for the input. I tried a new port on the switch and new cable run. The phone acted the same. I replaced the phone and have had no issues after that. I also set the problem phone up on my desk at a spare port. It has been running flawless all night and day.

Some days I hate learning a new switch. :)
