My problem is interfacing a Polycom vsx 7000 with pri card to a pri on my northern telcom 81-c. The only option on the vsx that half way works is NI-1 matching up with the setting of sl-1 on the pbx. T-1 b channels come up, D channel establishes and the unit will accept video calls in at 384 k. However the unit will not sieze the channels on an outgoing call and returns protocol mismatch on my pbx error codes. Polycom does not seem to have a sloution and others have told me they gave up and just used IP or had the distant end make the call. There has to be a way. I have my route, D channel set at sl-1, trunks are TIE?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

does the poly have protocol settings? if so it's using that outbound and accepting nortels inbound.. i had a simular problem (non poly) and nortel had me out my trunks and put them back in did... thought i was wasting time but it fixed my problem,of course the did was set to iao.. is the outbound dial path set up to pick up the correct pri?

John,

The setting on the Polycom are automatically ESF/B8Zs, the only choices are the interface choices of ESS5/ESS4 and NI-2, I think I put NI-1 on the forum. I did change the trunks to DID and also the route, but had the same results dialing out and could not dial in either but can on the Tie trunks, Polycom set to NI-2 and Nortel set to SL-1. We have Polycom 4000's at FEMA hdqtrs and the guys have never abeen able to make them work either. It works good on incoming calls.

thanks,

Johnny

do a trac on the outgoing and/or enl msgo x on the d in ld 96.. maybe that will give a hint as to where the mismatch is.

On your out bound trunk group set it to VOD instead of 3VCE in your route database

Your DCH protocals must match - Polycom = NI2 and Switch= NI2

It is also beter to use Tie or you might have trunk to trunk issues. You may not be able to use tie though with NI2 unless you have CBC package.

You will not be able to use ESS4 or 5 on Polycom unles you can also set up as custome with SL1 profile. Switch would then also have to be ESS4 or 5
