Hi Folks,

I heard that Previously Nortel Was having a pabx model, which was E1 or T1 but without D-Chennel.

can anyone give me some more information on this.

I just want to know about this as I like Nortel very much.

Regards

I'm not entirely clear on the exact nature of the question you're asking. But let me hazard a guess.

Are you referring to the configuration of a T1 circuit?

There are two setups:

1. PRI - Primary Rate Interface (uses a d-channel)
2. CAS - Channel Associated Signaling (uses inband signaling, no d-channel)

Before going off on the wrong path, please post more details.

hi,

i had discussions with my techie friends from avaya and audiocodes, they happend to tell me that there was one nortel system (pbx) which was not having the d-channel.

and as a curiousity i posted this on forum to get to know about this.

thanks

Hi,

Also would like to know which type of CAS (CAS name)is used here.

Regards

you can build a dti instead of pri for tie lines between pbx's depending on their usage? Is that what you are asking??

hi,

No, I heard that previously there was a technology in Nortel, where we used to have PRI or DTI (i am not sure) wihtout D-channel. I just want to know what type of CAS used here and if possible pabx model type.

Regards,

It's just a circuit. As far as I know there is no magic Nortel stuff involved. You can have it either way but thats not proprietary.

Maybe 'ISL' using 'Separated Dchannel' using DTI (inband) with external Nortel propretary signalling over say a MUX network for bandwidth efficiency ie 28k voice with minimal signalling...But that was used many moons ago !!

Cheers!!
