We have an issue that has recently crept up. Not sure why all the sudden, but it did. Our Paging Access code is 8 and zone 0 is the "page all" zone. We have an issue that our cell phone numbers are all 807-83xx. Is there a way to intercept calls to the paging system if it is dialed beyond the 80? I'm getting tired of hearing someone try to dial a cell phone and end up on the intercom for 30 seconds or more before they realize what they've done. Thanks.

Why not chg the ACOD, you're burning a 100 block of your numbering plan..make the acod 88 or 888 or anything you want.....

That's a possibility, but we're not that big of a user anyway so the block of numbers is no big deal. Also, many of our users have issues with change - the ones that are causing this problem are repeat offenders after being told 5-10 times! They can't even type their password in right on the computer. They lock themselves out at least once a week!

looks like you have free use of that route, so blocking with targ/tgar is the only option & not an option. I would suggest changing the page route acod to 81 if you are not concerned with your dialing plan.

Do you have new people that don't know you have to dial 9 first?

No there is no way to intercept the call if they dial 80+ by mistake.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

hey bigindian65..how about changing the people who
can't remember?

no problems only solutions

If it's just a few Dumb ass's, just TARG/TGAR there phones and route so they can't use it, but everyone else can.

strm, ace - I agree, but with lack of concern about dial plan, seemed easy to eliminate all together with a different acod.

New Flexible Code Restriction (NFCR) will do what you need. Check out Features and Services book. Might be a bit tricky if you haven't done it before but definitely will work.

ace, do I have to schedule you a touchy feely seminiar?

If all else fails, first change the ACCD of the paging route. Point 8 (the old ACCD) to a voice mail menu that requires an access password and warns the user they are about to page, then have a menu choice or 'zero out" to the ACCD (or a DN forwarded to the Paging ACCD)

This isn't the best security change your voice mail system will see, but it's an idea.
