Hi!

We bought V440 server and got Solaris8 box with it.
In that box threre are one DVD and many CD with OS Solaris8
and other additional software.
Previously I always install Solaris from Solaris 8 Software 1 of 2 CD
with CLI setup program. But whet I do "boot cdrom" from DVD
I always get "Web Start" which much more uncomfortable for me.
Is it possible run CLI from DVD ?

If I remember correctly, disk 1 of 2 is for jumpstart. Use disk 2 for installation.

@bfitzmai
no, it was CD1 of 2 for Installation; there is an "INstallation" CD which starts WebStart...

I installed a lot of machines with Solaris 9 on DVD via Serial Console...
Do you have Mouse, Keyboard and Monitor attached?

Best Regards, Franz

No, no, no (perhaps my english so bad ?)
I don't want use CD ! I want use DVD.
And I don't want use "WebStart" or "Jump start"
I want use Solaris Interactive Installation Program ( CLI ) :
Have you see difference ?

I have no mouse, keyb and monitor, I install
Solaris remotely from RS232 console connected to
terminal server. I know, that WebStart also work on console,
but I want CLI. Is it possible ? How to run CLI from DVD ?

did you run 'boot cdrom - install'? some OBPs have a bootdevice dvdrom, so it would be 'boot dvdrom - install'; I have installed Machines with a Solaris 9 DVD using CLI Install

No, It doesn't work. Neither 'boot cdrom - install' nor 'boot dvdrom - install' always WebStart started'.
