Inter-Tel Axxess 5.3 Adding non-associated mbx to DSS

I'm fairly new to the Inter-Tel Axxess software and I'm having problems adding phantom mailboxes to our DSS. This version of the software is asking for an associated device, which I these mailboxes don't have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might have already solved your problem by now.....but here's the answer.


Create a CRA application for each unassociated voicemail box. Make sure to remove the day and night greeting from each CRA. Program the digit translations in each CRA's time out to transfer to mailbox <number>. Then you can program each button on the DSS as a that mailbox's CRA that you created.

Another way is to create a Hunt group as the same ext. as the voicemail box. A box will appear that say's there's a conflict. Clcik ok to fix and associated voicemail box with huntgroup. Make sure to add some device that is not a physical extention as a memeber or else it won't work. The advantage of this setup is that any user can now dial that voicemail box and transfer to it with out having to hit the Vmail button first.
