I am a newbie with almost no experience working with this system and I am working on a Merlin Legend system trying to figure out how to set up a basic feature on the phones in the office. Right now, whenever someone dials another extension, it automatically goes to speaker whether they are on the phone or not, and interrupts the other person. I have been asked to set it up so that it will ring that other person's phone instead of automacally answering and that way they won't be interrupted. One phone in the office is set up this way, so I know it is possible. I was thinking it was the auto answer feature, and I have also tried voice announce, but so far I don't seem to be able to set it up. I may be totally off on how to find it, but I have found lots of good answers from this site and I thought maybe someone could help. Thanks,
Sean

at each phone, go
Feature 00
touch SA button
**10

Thanks for the quick response. I have one phone I have been messing with, and I have made it work by doing something, and it is probably the **10, but if that is how you do it, then shouldn't you be able to undo it by doing a

Feature 00
touch SA button
*10

I tried doing this on the phone I have been working on and it still rings whenever someone calls so I thought that wasn't the way to do it. Also, does it make a difference which SA button you use (i.e. SA Voice, SA Ring, or SA ORIG)? Thanks for your help.

You have to change your line order to pick up yor ring button before your voice button.
feature 00, touch sa button,pess *14,touch the lines in order you want(SA ring,SA 00,SA voice),**14,home.
This is assuming you have MLX phones.

Thank you 1043. This fix seems to work on the phones. But the original phone I was working on, is not working correctly. I am wondering if I did something to cause the SA Voice button to act like the SA Ring button. No matter what order I use, it always rings instead of going to speakerphone. If you have any suggestions, that would be great. Thanks!

Go to that phone and hit Feature 00. Then touch all of your sa buttons and see what type they are.It should be from bottom to top SA ring, SA voice, SA 00.

It is actually SA Voice -I, SA Voice -I, and SA-00 Ring from bottom to top. But I am assuming that should mean that both SA Voice lines would allow the person calling to go straight to speaker... Is that not correct?

The ORIGINATOR of the CALL determines if it is a VOICE or RING call, depending on which SA Button they select, or get with auto line select.

On release 7 Legend, and All versions of MAGIX, you could disable Voice Announce Receive calls.

That sounds like what you are trying to do, but you must make sure you have an R7 or later.

At any disply phone, touch any SA button, turn on the Speaker and dial *05.

That will show you the version.

If it's an R7 or later, you set it to off by going to each phone, dial *00, press any SA button and dial *130.

Then press HOME to exit program mode.

Thanks merlinman. I didn't realize that you can use the SA ring line to call someone and make it ring. Anyway, I ended up going into programming and picking the SA line that was the first line and then going through the list of options to find Voice. Then it had send and receive and I selected receive and then changed it to off and tested. It worked exactly as expected. I think this was something I tried earlier, but until now, I didn't realize that is what actually worked. Thanks to everyone who posted to this thread. I really appreciate the help!
