integration with outlook

To email things to SharePoint do you have to integrate your outlook with SharePoint? And if you do have to integrate it with your outlook do you have to integrate each person’s outlook to SharePoint(different users)?

I dont' think you have to integrate it with exchange to accept emails. You have to ensure that incoming email is configured correctly, and then set the list to accept incoming emails. I believe it uses smtp, so no exchange/outlook integration is required. here are a few links -
