Hi

Im looking if anyone can help me with a problem. We have been running a +- 20pc workgroup network (all running XP) with a linux fileserver. We want up go to win 2003 server. Obviously the profiles for all the users are on each individuals PC. What would be the easiest way to get all the user profiles (desktops, shortcuts, Mydocs etc.) from each individuals PC over to the 2003 domain server so when the user logs onto the domain all there settings are there.

Ps Where would robocopy work (is that for copying user profiles from one domain controller to another)

Thanks for your help

Have you considered using 2003 Small Business Server for this?, you can have upto 75 users and migrating profiles is a doddle.
When you have the server setup and user and computer accounts created do the following on the PCs;
Open IE, enter yourservername/connectcomputer and a wizard will migrate the profile settings for you and reconfigure the PC to be part of the domain. See this link for more info on SBS

Thanks for the replies.

I agree SBS is the easiest but we only have Standard.

I got the USMT. What is the easiest way to migrate the users with it? What is the process?

Thanks alot for your help
