Please l am writing a project on Integration and and
management of Win NT and Unix looking at a package called 'Samba' which apparently manages common unix/NT passwords, on the control of users access, creating of user's account and domains, grouping users, file security, file permissions, removing users, controlling user profiles, monitoring and troubleshooting.

My major problem is how to approach this project.

l have managed to check the samba.org site but it consist of too much information that l just got lost as to what to do.

Try to install webmin (You can setup samba much easier from that.
Hope this helps you big time!!! :)
