Wonder if anyone can help someone who has limited telephony knowledge understand what is required to use T38 faxing with the Mitel system.
Our RightFax version is old and using unsupported Brooktrout cards at 4 sites in old server hardware. I’ve been tasked with an upgrade but we've just had a new Mitel system installed with 2 x 3300 MXe controllers at 2 sites with the other sites to follow in a few months’ time so I wanted to investigate using T38 with virtual Brooktrout cards.
There is no requirement to have faxes routed to individual recipients, all faxes received at each site should be routed to a single mailbox at the central site where a fax operator decides where to forward the fax to. Fax volumes are relatively low.
From what I’ve read I think I’ll require T38 licences on both the Mitels and continue to use the old servers with the Brooktrout cards in at the other sites until they’ve been upgraded so that they can still send and receive locally and use one server with a virtual Brooktrout card at the central site to do the rest of the sending/receiving. Is there anything else in principal that I would need? I’m a missing something? I’ve read somewhere about needing a DSP II card in the Mitel but can’t find much about that, is it already in the MXe? What about SIP licencing, is that likely to already be in place as a result of using the Mitels for voice calls currently? Are there any caveats to using them for Fax and Voice calls at the same time?
Thanks in advance for your help.
