I am trying to find a way to add an NEC 2400 to our current Octel 350/Avaya s8700 setup.
Integration for s8700/350 is currently handled via 1 of 2 SMDI links.
Has anyone integrated both an NEC 2400 and an s8700 on the same 350? Could I use the second SMDI link to connect the NEC 2400? Or does the Menu 1-1 pbx type overide the integration link setting?
The NEC is at a remote site, also.
Thanks.

Are you using a voice bridge on the 350 now for the SMDI out of the 8700?

I have never been able to test this but it would be worth a try i assume that you have analog ports in the 350 now?

You will not be able to integrate both at the same time. The NEC uses a RS-232 link, however, the protocol is not exactly the same as the SMDI protocol.

However, if the S8700 has a voice bridge type device, that uses the SMDI protocol, you could then use a voice bridge device on the NEC to use SMDI and that would work. Both systems will need to use the SMDI protocol, or the NEC protocol, you will not be able to mix the two.
