We have recently bought Amd opteron or rather Sun Fire X2100.

There are two integrated network card on the system.
After installing we have realised that the integrated nic is not detected or probably I am not sure if it was detected, usually to check I use to execute the below mentioned command.

If someone knows any other way to see whether the integrated nic is detected please let us know.
prntconf | grep -v not | grep network

Can someone tell me what would be the devicename for the Integrated NIC ?.

I am going to perform the below mentioned command.
# touch /reconfigure ; sync ; reboot

Documents say there are 2 10/100/1000 ports on the X2100... At a guess, I would think they are "bge" NICs. Look in /etc and see if you have files /etc/hostname.<nic>

Example: /etc/hostname/bge0

If you don't, the OS was configured not to run on a network. That's why there are no drivers loaded at boot up.

sunny1504;

Lan1 port on left is should be specified by nge0 and port on right is bge0.

so set up hostname.nge0 and hostname.bge0 and then your /etc/hosts. Do the plumb commands that you have used in some your other posts.

Thanks

ifconfig -a
Just shows me lo
There is no refrence for nge or bge in /etc/path_to_inst file

Tried ifconfig bge0 plumb or ifconfig nge0 plumb.
No such interface

No sys-unconfig will just remove your existing settings. Try a grep net /etc/path_to_inst

If you don't have the file /etc/hostname.<nic>, sys-unconfig is an easy way to set up your server... But, you will need to know information to set up the network. Some of the info is:

nodename
IP address
Default Router
Subnet mask
Naming Service (NIS NIS+ LDAP)

This is just a few of the entries you will need when the server reboots.

grepping /etc/path_to_inst didnot work
Issue resolved the drivers are located in the supplement cd.

Issue resolved.

Thank you to each and everyone.

What exactly did you do to resolve the problem ? Did you do a pkgadd of the supplement CD ?

There is a script which you have to execute, this script will in return install the required package.
