Hello People!
I have been updating phone firmware on LSP's running CM 5.X every since CM 5.X came out. Our "recent" LSP installs have been with CM 6.X, which I understand uses the Utility Service to control phone firmware. My assumption is that the Utility Service works like an HTTP server. However, that will remain an assumption, cause the only documentation Avaya has is for the Stand Alone Utility Service. Our Utility Service was installed as NON-standalone. The options available in a NON-standalone setup are vastly different than what is described in the Stand Alone Utility Service documentation--- most notably the "UPLOAD PHONE FIRMWARE" option. I can see what the current phone firmware is (view, unpack, activate, deactivate, remove) but not how to update it or load newer versions.
With 5.X, I used the WINSCP program and transferred the needed files into the TFTPBOOT folder. Reboot the phones and done. I can't get to the Utility Service with WINSCP. I get a "connection actively refused" dialog box. It there a way to make the Utility Service respond to the connection request, or is there another option for getting the new firmware on the Utility Server? What am I missing?
One final question, why isn't newer always easier???![[bigsmile] [bigsmile] [bigsmile]](/data/assets/smilies/bigsmile.gif)
I appreciate any help.
