Is it possible to initiate a blank screen, activate password protection and put the monitor into low power mode in one operation?

What I would like to do is create a shortcut on my desktop that does the same job as waiting for the screen saver to kick in (that blanks the screen and requires a password to re-activate) and also put the monitor into low power mode.

I found "Absolute Control" by searching - but although it will put the monitor into low power mode it doesn't activate the screen saver password - Although after the screen saver timer activates - it does - naturally. But I don't want to wait.

I can create a screen saver shortcut - but that doesn't seem to activate the password protection, nor does it activate low power mode for the monitor.

Is this possible - or am I asking too much?

as far as locking the PC - I have a bat file that contains a single line
Code:
rundll32 user32.dll,LockWorkStation
and I have a shortcut to this bat file. when I double-click, the workstation is locked.

I know it isn't a complete solution - but at least having this part of the puzzle might help.

You can lock the computer just by pressing windows key + L...

No batch files required!

I must say - that my bat file came from a Win2000 PC - I have recently upgraded and have kept all my "old favorites". I didn't know about the WinKey + L. Thanks!!!

I already knew about "windows key + L"
I didn't know about runddl32.

As you probably already appreciate neither of those suggestions does all of what I want to achieve. I had already found commercial software that claimed to do what I wanted - but I didn't want to pay for such a trivial, albeit useful and handy utility.

However....

Einsein47's suggestions set me looking for what other user32dll options there might be that could possibly do the job and that - serendipitously landed me on this website

So I grabbed ScreenSave1100.zip, scanned it for malware - took a peek at the source code. I then copied ScreenSave.exe to c:\ut\gen (where I keep such handy tools)and then I created a desktop shortcut that has a target of

C:\UT\GEN\ScreenSave.exe /delay 1 /screensaver /delay 1 /lowpower
start in set to c:\ut\gen
a shortcut key of CTRL +ALT +L
and run minimised

Works a treat! - recommended. My screen now blanks, goes to low power and locks all in 2 seconds. Either by double clicking on the shortcut or pressing my chosen hotkeys.
