help,

my users on my subnet, cannot im each other, if they have received an address from dhcp.

if they have a static ip address, it work fine, otherwise
they get the message:

"The following message could not be delivered to all recipients:"

they are able to properly log in to exchange im service.

thanks,
elliott

When you log into IM, the client sends a message to the IM home server telling it what IP the client is at and a UDP port above 1024 that it will listen to. If the IP address of the client changes, they need to log out and then back in. This updates the home server with the new IP of the client.

From your description, it sounds like something is going awry during the registration process. A trace would be in order.

set your dhcp lease to longer than the normal logon time i.e if they log off everyday then 25hrs. tho 8 days is standard .

new57, did you resolve this. I am getting something very similar. My users can 'chat' but cannot use audio / video.

Mickwall sounds more like a firewall issue.

sounds like your dhcp may be using a differnt subnetmask

ie you set the manual mask to 255.0.0.0 and the dhcp sets it to 255.255.255.0
