When I try to install 'Giants: Citizen Kabuto' (Original) I get this message.
Error Number: 0x80070725
Description Incompatible version of the RPC stub
and another thing -
IN IE 6.0 when i right-click "open in new window" from the menu, it opens a new window and does not load the page, instead it just sits there, completely blank no page, no url in the title bar. This also happens when the window is opened for me (e.g. popup ad, etc). I have tried reinstalling to IE 5.0, 5.5 and then back to 6.0 but this did not help. Please can someone work out what went wrong.

Oh, another thing - (again) when i press ctrl+f (find on this page) i get the following message:
====================================
an error has occured in this dialog.

error 35
incompatible version of the rpc stub
====================================
Could these be related? (i get a similar error when trying to install giants: citizen kabuto (which uses the installshield intstaller)

.

And while i'm there - whatever disc i have in my cd-rw (secondary master, E: drive) it autoruns at startup, btw i'm running 98se with latest virus definitions.

GeckoAPA,

Have you deleted all files and folders from the c:\windows\temp directory?

If you're on Win98, go to Start>Run, and type sfc. Click the Settings button and check the box that says "Check for changed files"

Go to Start>Run, and type (one at a time)
regsvr32.exe ole32.dll
regsvr32.exe rpcrt4.dll
regsvr32.exe oleaut32.dll

Do you have a version of DCOM installed?

Check here...One for 98, one for 95

For IE6, go to Start>Run, and type:
rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

and choose Repair.

Ive tried everything! nothing works so i am backing my C: drive up now and am going to reformat the drive as every time i fix a problem, a new one rears it's ugly head.
thanks anyway.
