Does anyone know if you can use WindowsServer2003-KB340178-SP2-x86-ENU.msi to install a subset (e.g, AD Tools only) of the W2K3 SP2 Admin Tools? I haven't found any switches to specify what gets installed. Running with no switches installs all of the tools.

well it doesn't take up barely any space and it doesn't hurt to have them all.

Plus this sounds like an easily googled question.

You could always install all them then copy the ones you want to a thumbdrive then be on your way and not have to worry about it!

My Internal Audit department only wants the AD Tools installed on some desktop units. I thought about installing everyting and then deleting the shortcuts/target files for the components not required, but I would rather have a "clean" install if possible.

I'd install it all on my personal computer then copy what I wanted to a thumbdrive or email it to a gmail account then all you ahve to do is paste it.

but here is the article on your program.

I skimmed through and didn't see anything but take a look it might help in more than one way

It appears you cannot control the install process using WindowsServer2003-KB340178-SP2-x86-ENU.msi. However, the adminpak.msi file on the Windows Server 2003 R2 with Service Pack 2 disk appears to be the same version of tools available in the separate Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 download. The adminpak.msi allows you to specify specific components for installation (KB314978).
