To All Experts,

Can someone guide me in installing the .NET framework for Excahnge Server 2007 in my Windows Server 2003 x64 ?

I haven't applied this update yet:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x64
Date last published: 10/16/2009
Download size: 131.7 MB

too scared of things went wrong again ;-|
because since I regularly use Windows update it broke my Autodiscover and POP3.exe and IMAP4.exe also cannot be executed (failed to start).

but when I'm about to to download that 131 MB file above I couldn't find it, but instead MS Download website lead me to this:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for Windows XP x64, and Windows Server 2003 x64 (KB959209)
URL:
in which I shall install smaller file for the update:

1. Install the update for the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP20SP2-KB958481-x64.exe
2. Install the update for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP30SP2-KB958483-x64.exe
3. Install the update for the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 - NDP35SP1-KB958484-x64.exe

please let me know which one is the correct procedure to install it without breaking things apart in my production environment.

I'm confused why Windows Update website (Manual link Update) shows i need to install:
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x64

rather than jumping directly into: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for Windows XP x64, and Windows Server 2003 x64 (KB959209)

so far I don't bother to apply the .NET Fx update until I realized that my current error can be fixed by installing:

Thanks,

I think if you just run the DVD then it won't install until it is happy with the prerequsites, it will also point you in the right direction...i think.

Did an install a couple of weeks ago and i can't remember what done, it couldn't have been that hard then! run a full windows updates and install everything. you'll be fine.

because since I regularly use Windows update it broke my Autodiscover and POP3.exe and IMAP4.exe also cannot be executed (failed to start).
I suspect that there is more at play here than just that. I use Windows Update and WSUS all of the time, and haven't had problems with them mangling servers.

.Net versions are independant of each other. You can multiple versions on the same server, and I've yet to see a problem requiring installation in a specific order.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

great, thanks for the reply.

I'll install the update from the MS Windows update link (manually initiated). and then check it again if there is anything that needs to be updated.
