hi,
I have just installed Oracle8i and created a new database and created the username for the project central. I ran the SQl scripts that came with the project central.
I have configured net8 and i was able to login to the database using the user I have created in SQLPLUS.
when i began installing the project central software using custom installaion it asked me about the information of the oracle database . i put the service name of the oracle database as the server name and the username and password. when tested the connection. it failed !!!
could you help me it failed. ???????

Did you create a DSN for it as well? Try that, and test it using Oracle's ODBC Test. Once that is successful try loading Project again.

Well I aha created a DSN and when I tested it using Oracle ODBC Test it was working fine, but when i used it as the server name it failed. I suspect the way I wrote it which was like this:
server name: dsn=Oracle, where oracel was the name i gave for the DSN

Take a look at your regestry entry for Project Central. It should look like the following...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\9.0\MS Project\WebClient Server\projectcentral]
"Provider"="msdaora"
"QueryFileStd"="C:\\projectcentral\\isapi\\QueryLibStd.sql"
"QueryFileExt"="C:\\projectcentral\\isapi\\QueryLibOracle.sql"
"UserName"="Admin"
"Password"="Admin"
"ConnectString"="Data Source=projectcentral.YourDomain.com;"

The connect string should work if it's just your Oracle server name also.

Let me know how it goes Antonio@Dataformsoftware.com
