Question for anyone , do you have to put the PRI card in the main cabinet of the CS1K or can you install them in the exspanision cabinet ????

Need a little more info on system... Release, type of call server, do you have any other T1's or PRI's?

Hello,
if you mean main and expansion so both of them do have only 4 card slots and they are connected at the backplain via 2 cables, so in this case, yes, PRi needs to sit in the main cabinet

Option 11 cabinet? Only in Main on Fiber, If IP you can expand out.

CS1K RLS 5.5 call server are ccpm , have run out of slot in both main cabinet would have to install another loop just to add 2 more PRI .

If it has MGC cards then it can go in any cabinet. Keep in mind you have to have a clock controller in each media gateway. Not entirely sure about 5.5 but I know you could do it in 6. It would be best to move one of your other cards to the expansion and but the t-1 card in the main ig you can.

yes the expanision cabinets have MGC so i can put pri card in there , as long i add a clock card to the pri card correct .

That is correct. Do you have analog fax machines? If you do keep in mind you will be limited in the fax transmission rate across media gateways. The max you could fax at would be 14.4. If at all possible to reduce this issue it is best to install the PRI's and fax machines in the same media gateway. You should also make sure you have all 128 DSP's available in each Media Gateway.

great i wont have any fax machine just 2 pri cards and yes MGC will have 128 dsp on board

is the any docs stateing that you can indeed put pri cards in expanison cabinets if it has an MCG card. i have a few people telling me no it can't

I have done it. You cant put in a media gateway expander but it will go into a main chassis no problem. Do you have Opt. 11 cabinets or a chassis system? When you are configuring the loop it will ask you what media gateway and slot you want to put it in.

1000e , i trying not to have buy an main cabinet to istall my last 2 pri , i have room in an exspanison cabinet that has MGC in it already

I just built one in a 1000E in Loop 4-1 and here is what it looks like.

You have to be careful when you say expansion cabinet because there is a lot of definitions of an expansion cabinet. If you have Opt. 11 cabinets then each cabinet is it's own media gateway with no expanders. These are the cabinets where the card slots are vertical. If you have media gateway chassis then the cards lay flat, horizontal, and the PRI cards can only go in the main chassis, not the expander. What kind of cabinets do you have???????

ok here what mine core 0 looks like where can i put the 2 pri cards .

cards go flat , so i do have to add another main cabinet . why ????

You have a 1000 E Chassis. They can only go in the main cabinets, not the expanders. If you have cabinets they can go in any media gateway. The reason they cant go in an expander is because of the limitations of the copper cable that connects the 2 chassis.

WHY DO YOU HAVE ALL THOSE MC 32 CARDS IN THERE? IF YOU HAVE DSP DAUGHTERBOARDS? YOU CAN GET RID OF THE MC32 CARD IN SLOT 4 OF LOOP 4-0 AND USE THAT SLOT FOR A PRI. tHEY ALSO PUT THE CS IN SLOT 1 OF LOOP 4-1 FOR SOME REASON, THAT USED A CARD SLOT IN THE MAIN CHASSIS THAT DIDN'T NEED TO BE USED.

this was design by nortel natinal install team not my doing just i have to now clean it up . so i could move that cs in 4-1 to slot 4-1-10 to give my self room for the 2 pri cards i need to install ???

if i am correct the MC32 cards are for the 1000+ anaolog devices i have on this system , i have 4 other loops that house all of my analog cards .

so i could move that cs in 4-1 to slot 4-1-10 to give my self room for the 2 pri cards i need to install ???

Yes you can, The CS and SS use no back plane resources so they can go any where. Those MC 32 S cards are eating up a lot of real estate when you can do the same thing with dsp daughterboards on the mgc.
