I'm trying to install a radeon 9250 in my Dell dimension e310's pci slot so I can use it's tv output but the screen goes black when I insert it and the pc locks up. Why is it conflicting with the integrated card and how can I get around this? Thanks for any advice!!

First I hope you are doing this with the PC turned off.

Second, Once you Plug the video card in, it should override the onboard video. So Plug your monitor into the PCI card's monitor Plug. You should get signal.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Well I got it working, but the upgrade is hardly worth it. It was probably foolish of me to think a pci card would provide better video than the built in on a brand new tower, you think?
However I think I do have a pci-e slot. It's really small and it's in-line with the other slots. Are there any cards available for this machine that would allow me to play games like oblivion?

That sounds like a x1 or x2 PCIe slot, as far as I know, there isn't a video card for those slots. Those slot are usually reserved for NIC's or Modems. Don't confuse a PCIe x1 slot with a AMR or CMR slot.

Basic PCI slots are usually white, AMR/CMR/AGP slots are usually brown but i've seen AGP in yellow or red but nowadays color means nothing. Seems that manufacturers are doing the "Eye Candy" thing and making mobo's all kinds of colors.
