I have been trying for day to re-install my windows cd. The error, "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer." came up. So I research the proplem. I found out that I have a SATA cord connected to my hard drive. So I found a drive for it, and copied it over to a disk. I loaded from a disk, pressed f6, pressed, S, and I inserted the disk and now I get the error, "The file txtsetup.oem could not be found." I check the disk and the file is on their. I dont know what else to do. I have a western digital 80 gig hard drive, an (abit kv8 pro AMD athon 64 system board socket 754)Motherboard. Im trying to install winxp pro.

skrublove,

I have run into this problem myself a few times. The problem is that the drives you are introducing are incorrect, as far as the Windows systems is concerned. You have to get a flappy installed on the machine and boot off the cd, during the set up, press F6 to install the storage drivers. If the Windows system does not reconize the drives, try other drivers.

In attempting to install the OS on different machines that were peiced together, I had a stack of floppies with different versions of the same storage driver and kept tring them all until one of them finally work.

Yes SATA systems are a bugger to reinstall. I think only the Windows XP Professional/Home SP2 install CD's that come with the SATA drivers as standard (by the way, this is the Windows Server 2003 forum, not the Windows XP forum).

If you say that your Floppy disk already has the SATA drivers on, make sure that the drivers are in the root of the drive (ie. not in a directory). Failing that, try downloading the latest drivers from the net
