Installing Oracle8i problems on SuSe Linux7.3. Need Urgent Help

I 've currently installed downloaded Oracle8i software from Oracle.com site on Suse Linux7.3. After pre-installtion setup tasks, I started the Oracle8i installer by entering ./runInstaller

Here is the problem:

The script runs and lists a whole bunch of below information. I just summarize the key factors here

Initializing Java Virtual Machine from .../stage/Components/oracle/swd.jre/1.1.8/Datafiles/Expanded/linux/bin/jre. Please wait...

SIGSEGV received at bfffd648 in Disk04/oracle8i/Disk1/stage/Components/oracle/swd.jre/1.1.8/Datafiles/Expanded/linux/native_threads/libjava.so. processing terminated.

jre full version "JDK 1.1.8 IBM .....etc...

Operating system Environment ... etc

Application Environment......

Libraries loaded by the JVM......

Current thread details.....

system monitor status....

Object monitor status....
Ok

then it stops here. The Installer is not started at all. Please help me how to fix my problems.

what terminal type you are using while running runinstaller
It should be set to xterm, export TERM=xterm

It the TERM is set to xterm and still you have problem
then you might have to set the ORA_NLS33 parameter to
$ORACLE_HOME/ocommon/nls/admin/data
