Installing Norton.....

Ive had norton 2002 before... then switched to mcafee because of problems with my norton. but when the mcafee started to act up... i uninstalled it and now i am trying to return back to norton. ive uninstalled all the antivirus programs i can find on my computer. but when i try and install norton... i put the cd in and it starts up, but then it just exits out of the setup all by itself its getting to be pretty annoying .... and even when i try to go to norton's site, the browser will automatically close itself out. so basically i cant do anything involving antivirus programs without it closing automatically.... any suggestions or advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you have no other Symantec products installed, back up your registry (and make sure you know how to restore it, just in case), then search for and remove all instances of:

virusprotect6
74be21dbfdbd3d11ebae000acc725290

Browse to the following key: HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Symantec

In the right pane, delete any of the following keys that are present:

Repair
Remove
SourceDir
DestDir
Install
TargetDir

Restart your computer and try the instalation again. If you still have problems, repeat the above steps, removing the entire Symantec key shown above.

when i try to go to regedit it says "regestry editing has been disabled by your administrator" how can i get into regedit??

Part of your problem may be that you need admin rights on the computer in order to install NAV. If you don't have the admin password, you'll need someone from IT to do the install.
