Let's face it... I'm a complete novice when it comes to Novell products. I have the Novell 5 books which include a 3 license version of Netware 5. The book says that I must create a boot partition using a NON-Windows DOS. Where can I get this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a CD with the OS it is possible it will boot on it's own, and will then allow you to create the partition then.

If not get a MS-DOS 5/6 boot disks and install it using those.

As far as I remember Novell also supplied a boot floopy with the setup.

If you don't have any search the net ( and you will probably find some sites that still have images that you can download and use.

But you are better off trying to get someone to install/supply you with the SBS 6.5 free pack for 5 users

The problem is that I cannot boot from the CD (even though my BIOS is set to boot from the CD). I have no problems booting to other CD's. How would you recommend that I use MS-DOS to create by boot partition, and then proceed to do the initial install of the OS?

If you can't boot off the CD, then do it the way you suggest. Don't forget you will need CD Drivers on your DOS Bootdisk so that you can run the Netware install off the CD.
